You were born in love
Our tiny bodies eat and sleep with love
Our caregivers tend with love
It is our responsibility as we progress to extend that love, no matter how complicated or hidden it may be, to our next encounter

And us waking up to that sacred duty is the first real step toward enlightenment.
Enlightenment is a wonderful and powerful experience that is most certainly a job. I grew up hearing about enlightenment in a different verbiage
we called it being saved and I always thought that once you were saved your work was done.
I was wrong, it actually meant you were just getting started.
I can’t help but think of the first step in AA, admitting you have a problem, then and only then can the remaining 11 steps be approached.
I have had a complex and transforming relationship with a life alongside pure love and the deliberate relinquishing of my burden, predetermined (karma) and otherwise, and after five hard fought years from step one, I can finally say I have the hang of it and, if need be, I am prepared to die in the comfort of pure love.
I’ll only wake and, ultimately, meet you there
And oh what a lovely encounter that will be.

filled with the flowers that bloom for the bees, and the powerful trees
that gift us with beautiful vision and profound insights
into the peace and achievement possible when we embrace the stillness
at the center of the ups, downs, and indecision,
dancing around these flashing lights

Let’s dance

Deliberate movement
Divine purpose
Each step is an improvement
In our connection to spirit
Expanding our mantra beyond verses
Our bodies surrender to that which is us and reaches up
We move so carefully to all our guides gift us and teach us.
The drum, the beat, the music
That is our vehicle
Is a powerful short cut to the pinnacle,
An embrace we all so earnestly seek
So sing and cut a rug with reckless abandon.
Especially when instructed by those asking us to take each other’s hand in hand,
Bringing us ever closer in meditation and the gentle words they speak.
Leave with an open heart, lose these imaginary boundaries, fade into the oneness that is us becoming,
And settle into a happiness that Is no less than perfection dancing, cheek to cheek

My suffering is grateful to you and your understanding.
This profound lesson has given me purpose and unearthed the treasure around me.
I’ve held your words so closely to each conversation.
An extraordinary guide, with a lantern, and provisions for the heart of me and my everchanging companion.
The terrain although craggy is rendered passable by the surefootedness of your teachings. Thank you for each selfless, loving step that we were able to take with you.
Thank you for holding my needful hand, fiercely.
Such an inspirational, powerful, and peaceful warrior.
Go unfaltering as you have lived and expound the love waiting for us on the other side with the final unending stroke of your masterpiece.
While we do our part in your ongoing installation that strengthens the waking world in a wave of illumination.
Please light a candle and send prayers of comfort and gratitude to Brother Thay during his transition.

Swan Song

Life on the island is a bit awkward at first
Surrounded by water in this tiny burg
Everyone knows everyone
If death pays a visit, it is most certainly one of your friends in the hearse
What makes matters worse
If I find love amongst the tourists
It is the topic of conversation from the mailman to the local florist,
for the better part of a week.
I swear to you these people have nothing better to do than to stick their noses in and, occasionally, lie on the beach.
But it’s a small price really, to get some work done.
left my old baggage to the wolves in the city and gave my inner voice a chance to really speak.
I’ve had so much to say for so long, but was silenced by adversity
This permanent vacation will do wonders for my song.
I’m making amends with creativity
Comedies and great tragedies
will be unleashed.
I’ll give you smiles and tears all while massaging your fears
in text that will positively leap
from the page and into your imagination.
Just bear with me as I work on the translation
cocktail dress from ball gown
a beach hat from an elegant crown,
be prepared to receive art from the core of me,
A gift to you.
Although not new,
it’ll finally see it’s proper light of day because of the lovely setting.
With a bit of work, adjusting and sweating,
Lord willing, I’ll produce some sage and powerful words
that you won’t soon be forgetting.
Straight from the heart of this freshly anointed, small town girl
An ample gift to those that beseech
I hope they have the strength to escape, travel the world,
and I bid them godspeed to all they may reach.

and realize that it’s actually eating you
This sickness that needs treating
Was hiding in our fare, who knew?
Our soul diets need completing
now that we know,
we have to focus on the break through
that is a monumental meeting
manifesting in the shift
towards healthy love, life, and food!
